Honors Robert E. Jones and Kevin O’Keefe
as 2010 Top Missouri Attorneys

For the second consecutive year, Curtis, Heinz, Garrett & O’Keefe attorneys Robert E. Jones and Kevin O’Keefe have been named by Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers magazine as two of the top attorneys in Missouri. Each year, only 5 percent of the lawyers in each state receive the distinction of Super Lawyer.

Super Lawyers magazine names outstanding lawyers in each state from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The multi-phase selection process includes a statewide survey of lawyers, independent evaluation of candidates by the attorney-led research staff and a peer review of candidates by practice area.

Robert E. Jones was recognized as a Super Lawyer in the practice areas of real estate, business litigation and government. He concentrates his practice in local government law, real estate and title insurance law, business and commercial litigation and corporate law. He is also a certified mediator, approved for and serving on the panels for the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Missouri and the circuit courts of the St. Louis metropolitan area.
Jones has served as the prosecuting attorney of the City of Sunset Hills since 1995, and city attorney of the City of Ballwin since 2007. In addition, he was zoning commissioner in 1996, Municipal Court Judge from 1997 to 1999 and mayor from 1999 to 2005 of the City of Ballwin. He received his J.D. in 1985 from Washington University School of Law and his B.A. in 1982 from Southern Methodist University.

Kevin O’Keefe was recognized by Super Lawyers for his work in government, cities and municipalities and land use/zoning. He concentrates his practice in municipal law, urban development and redevelopment, tax increment financing and other economic development tools, and trials and appeals.

Kevin has appeared in and argued trial and appellate cases in state and federal courts in Missouri and the United States Supreme Court (Quinn v. Millsap, 1989). He has presented seminars as a lecturer for the University of Wisconsin’s national zoning seminars; University of Missouri, Governmental Affairs Program; University of Missouri-St. Louis graduate program in Public Administration; St. Louis University graduate program in Public Administration; Missouri Municipal League; St. Louis County Municipal League, Missouri City Management Association, and the American Planning Association. He has also lectured at legal seminars for the Missouri Bar Association, Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, International Municipal Lawyers Association, and the Missouri Municipal Attorneys Association, and he authored a chapter for a Missouri Bar continuing legal education publication.

O’Keefe serves as city attorney for a number of Missouri municipalities, including the city of Bellefontaine Neighbors, Clayton, Cool Valley, Des Peres, Frontenac, Hazelwood and O’Fallon. He received his J.D. in 1971 from St. Louis University and a B.A. from University of Scranton in 1968.
